What are the latest personal net worth requirements for 8(a) economic disadvantage in November 2026?

My firm is considering applying for the 8(a) Business Development Program, and I'm trying to get a clear picture of the individual economic disadvantage criteria. We are a staffing firm, NAICS 561320, and we've been looking at some federal sources sought notice opportunities for staffing services that are designated for 8(a) firms. I've heard some conflicting information about the personal net worth limits. I saw something about it in a training last year, but I know these rules can change. What are the current thresholds for net worth, adjusted gross income, and total assets for an individual to qualify as economically disadvantaged for 8(a) in late 2026?

The individual net worth must be less than $850,000 to qualify as economically disadvantaged for the 8(a) Business Development Program, excluding the ownership interest in the applicant firm and the equity in the primary personal residence (13 CFR 124.104(c)(2)). The Small Business Administration (SBA) presumes an individual is not economically disadvantaged if their adjusted gross income averaged over the three preceding years exceeds $400,000 (13 CFR 124.104(c)(3)). Additionally, an individual generally will not be considered economically disadvantaged if the fair market value of all assets exceeds $6.5 million (13 CFR 124.104(c)(4)). These criteria are established in SBA regulations for the 8(a) program.
