How do I find bid tabulations for past state and local government contracts?

I'm new to pursuing state and local government contracts and I'm trying to understand the pricing and competition for past awards. I'm looking at opportunities for IT services, specifically NAICS code 541511. I've found some solicitations, like Invitation for Bid (IFB) notices on the state procurement portal, but I can't find the bid tabulations after the awards. I know federal contracts have award notices that often include pricing, but the state portal doesn't seem to have that information readily available. Where do state and county government agencies publish their bid tabulation results? Is there a central place to look, or does it vary by agency?

State and local government agencies publish their bid tabulation results in various places, and there is no central federal portal like SAM.gov for all of them. Each state, county, and city agency usually has its own procurement rules and its own portal for posting solicitations and awards.

You are on the right track looking at the state procurement portal. Many state portals, like Team Georgia Marketplace or Virginia's eVA eProcurement Marketplace, will include award information and sometimes even the bid tabulations. If the portal does not have the information, check the specific agency's purchasing department website. A county purchasing department or a city's procurement office might post bid tabs directly on their own pages.

Public records requests are another way to get bid tabulations. Most state and local governments are subject to public records laws. You can submit a request to the agency that issued the contract for the bid tabulation or award documents. This process takes time, but it provides the official record of the bids received and the awarded price.

Thank you, Tom. I will check the county purchasing department websites next. What information should I include in a public records request to make sure I get the bid tabulation I need? · Helen M. ·
