Bid tabulation
Also called: bid tab, abstract of bids, bid results, tabulation of bids
A bid tabulation is the record of every bid received on a sealed-bid solicitation, listing each bidder and its prices as read at the bid opening, usually posted or available on request as a public record.
Federal sealed bids are recorded on an abstract of offers under FAR 14.403 and are available for public inspection after opening. State and local agencies post bid tabs on their portals or release them under the state public records act, often within days of the opening. The tab shows who bid, the base and alternate prices, and sometimes whether a bid was deemed nonresponsive.
What to check: your position relative to the low bidder, the spread between the top bids (a tight spread means the market agrees on the price; a huge gap means someone misread the scope), the names of the firms that keep showing up in your category, and the awarded price, which becomes the benchmark for the recompete. Ask for the tab on every bid you lose, and on the ones you did not enter.
What it is not: available for negotiated procurements. RFP results come through the award notice and the debrief, and competitors' proposals are not released.
