About govcon.forum
What is govcon.forum?
govcon.forum is an independent question-and-answer community about selling to government: federal agencies, states, counties, cities, school districts and public universities. Members ask how to find bids, how to read a solicitation, how to register in SAM.gov, which set-aside programs they qualify for, how to price a services bid, what to do after a loss, and how to team with primes and subs. Government buyers answer too, as individuals, never for their agency.
Who runs it?
govcon.forum is run by RFPFinder (rfpfinder.net), under the username gf-team. The team pins reference threads, removes advertising and keeps answers sourced to the FAR, the SBA rules, SAM.gov and state procurement codes. The forum is not affiliated with any government agency, and nothing here is legal advice.
Badges
Gov buyer marks a member who signed up with a verified .gov or .mil address. They speak for themselves, never for their agency, and never about an open source selection. Verified vendor marks a member with a SAM Unique Entity ID on file. Badges are optional; everyone can ask and answer.
How answers are ranked
Every thread shows the accepted answer first, then answers by member votes. The person who asked, or a moderator, marks the accepted answer. Answers that name a consultant, a software product or a company as the recommendation are removed; answers that explain what to look for are welcome.
Sources members are asked to use
- The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and DFARS on acquisition.gov, cited by part and section
- SBA rules for size standards, 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB and SDVOSB on sba.gov
- SAM.gov help and the Federal Service Desk
- GAO bid protest regulations and decisions
- Your state or local procurement code and the portal's own vendor guide
- The solicitation itself: Sections L and M, the Q&A and the amendments
